Discord will open an engineering center in Lisbon

Discord is establishing an engineering hub in Lisbon, marking its first dedicated technology center outside San Francisco. The company, founded in 2012, originally focused on facilitating communication among friends during gaming sessions. The Lisbon office will be built from scratch, with a job listing seeking a director of engineering to lead the new center. This role is described as a 'founder position,' emphasizing the autonomy and technical independence of the Lisbon hub. Candidates must be willing to relocate and are expected to work on-site several times a week. Additional positions for engineering managers and senior software engineers are also available. Details about the office's size and hiring plans will be revealed at a press conference during the upcoming Web Summit.
