The house rose on the water. The river pushed it against the bridge
Heavy rainfall at the beginning of the week caused flash floods near the intersection of New Mexico, Utah, Arizona, and Colorado. Pagosa Springs, Colorado, was particularly affected, with the San Juan River reaching 5.1 meters, well above the alarm level. A video showed a house being swept away by the river, crashing into a pedestrian bridge. Residents reported experiencing consecutive severe floods, with two major incidents occurring this year alone. The first flood in late October had already paralyzed the town center and closed part of US 160, and just as repairs were completed, more heavy rain returned the following day.
