Customs intercepts over 1.7 million fake Pokémon cards in Rotterdam
A customs officer discovered a large number of Pokémon cards in a container at Maasvlakte, raising doubts about their authenticity. A specialist confirmed they were counterfeit by comparing them to an original card, noting differences in branding, colors, paper, and images. The container held 1.79 million cards across 9,300 boxes. Although the discovery occurred in May, it was only announced after Nintendo verified the cards were fake. The counterfeit cards have been destroyed at Nintendo's request, while customs stated their role was limited to interception, leaving prosecution to Nintendo.
