More and more birds infected with avian influenza in Hungary

In Hungary, the autumn migration of wild birds is increasing the risk of avian influenza transmission to poultry. The National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) reports a rise in positive wild bird samples. Due to this heightened risk, Chief Veterinary Officer Dr. Imre Nemes mandated the confinement of poultry in commercial farms in high-risk areas and recommended covered feeding and watering for non-commercial flocks. Minimizing contact between domestic and wild birds is crucial, with strict hygiene and biosecurity measures required. Any signs of illness or unusual deaths must be reported to a veterinarian immediately. Compliance with epidemic prevention regulations is mandatory nationwide.
