Elhallgatta coupon promotions' unpleasant details from the cunning Auchan

The Hungarian Competition Authority imposed a fine of nearly 69 million HUF on Auchan for unfair commercial practices. The company failed to adequately inform consumers about the conditions for obtaining and using discounts during three coupon promotions from April 2024 to February 2025. Key information was withheld, including that coupons could only be obtained under additional conditions and required a loyalty card for redemption. Different rules applied to hypermarkets and supermarkets, and the redemption periods varied for different coupons. Auchan acknowledged the violation and waived its right to appeal.
