The use of phones has become widespread in Hungarian hospitals, putting the privacy rights of patients and their caregivers at risk.
Since the lifting of the hospital media ban by Health Minister Zsolt Hegedűs, more patients are recording their hospital experiences. This increase in recordings raises concerns about privacy violations, as many individuals captured in these recordings have not consented. The Gottsegen György National Cardiovascular Institute reported a noticeable rise in patients and relatives taking photos and videos within hospitals. The National Hospital Directorate (OKFŐ) confirmed that this trend is observed in multiple hospitals, particularly in emergency departments. To address this issue, OKFŐ plans to launch a campaign to inform patients about the legal implications of unauthorized recordings.
