In Hungary, a website now allows you to discover who collaborated with the political police during the communist era

A new website, Nyitott Aktak, launched on November 4, allows the public to access files from Hungary's communist-era security services. This initiative follows the recent political changes after Viktor Orban's defeat. Historian Tibor Takacs estimates that around 150,000 to 160,000 informants existed, with records of about 55,000 still available. This development could reveal the identities of collaborators to many families in Hungary, impacting a population of nearly 9.6 million.
