Mol has been granted permission to negotiate the Serbian mega deal for an additional two and a half months

Mol has received approval from the US Treasury's OFAC to continue negotiations for acquiring Serbia's Naftna Industrija Srbije (NIS), extending the deadline to February 28, 2027. This is not the first extension granted. The Serbian oil company was sanctioned by the US in 2025 due to its majority Russian ownership. Mol aims to purchase this stake from Gazprom and Gazpromneft, but negotiations have been prolonged. The acquisition would provide Mol with a refinery, a network of gas stations, and petrochemical facilities, enhancing its regional influence and competitiveness against Croatia's Janaf.
