Fatal forecasts for future retirees. Poland ranks third in Europe
Mandatory pension systems in many European countries will not provide benefits at 70% of previous earnings, requiring additional savings throughout careers. According to the OECD report "Pensions Outlook 2026," 22 out of 30 analyzed countries will have pensions below this benchmark. Poland has one of the highest pension gaps, with men needing to save 17.3% of their earnings to achieve the desired retirement income. The gap for women is even larger, reaching 25.9%. Other countries like Lithuania and Ireland also show significant gaps. Experts emphasize the importance of purchasing power in assessing future pensions, as well as the need for individuals to save more to maintain living standards in retirement.
