There was a problem with the Auchan coupon promotion, the company received a fine of several tens of millions.
The Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH) imposed a fine of 68.9 million HUF on Auchan for misleading coupon promotions. The investigation, initiated in July 2025, revealed that Auchan failed to disclose essential conditions for coupon usage, such as the requirement for a loyalty card and minimum purchase amounts. This was deemed an unfair commercial practice. Auchan acknowledged the violation, waived its right to appeal, and committed to improving compliance programs. Following the acquisition of Auchan's operations by Indotek, the new owner anticipates increased market share and profitability, aiming to innovate in retail once again, potentially benefiting from a change in government.
