Government approves 40 million euros in support for farmers

The Portuguese government has approved an extraordinary support package of 40 million euros for the agricultural sector to offset rising costs of fertilizers and energy due to the Middle East crisis. This decision, made by the Council of Ministers, combines 11.9 million euros from national funds, 8.1 million euros from the Agricultural Crisis Reserve, and 20 million euros from the Common Agricultural Policy Strategic Plan (PEPAC). Farmers can apply for these funds through the Institute of Financing for Agriculture and Fisheries (IFAP). The total public response now amounts to 60 million euros, including 20 million euros allocated in June from the State Budget.
