Despite Rákay Philip explaining that he was only the creative producer of the Petőfi film, according to his contract, he also had to oversee the use of the funds.
In September, an investigation was launched by the National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV) regarding the state funding of the film "Most vagy soha!". Rákay Philip's film received significant financial support, totaling 6.1 billion HUF, with reports suggesting actual costs exceeded 7 billion HUF. Rákay, who claims to have only learned about the investigation through the media, asserts he was not involved in production tasks, serving only as a creative producer. However, his contract indicates he had responsibilities in financing, production, and oversight. The National Film Institute identified Fülöp Péter as the lead producer responsible for financial accountability. Rákay stated he did not memorize his contract details, emphasizing his focus on creative aspects rather than production management.
