A Kenyan cult leader has been sentenced to two hundred years in prison for starving children to death.

Paul Mackenzie, a cult leader in Kenya, has been sentenced to 200 years in prison for the murder of 190 children and one adult. The court imposed a 100-year sentence for starvation deaths and another 100 years for direct murders. Mackenzie encouraged his followers to starve themselves in anticipation of salvation before the apocalypse. In 2023, authorities discovered hundreds of bodies in the Shakahola forest linked to his religious group, with reports indicating a total of 448 bodies found. Some victims were starved, while others were strangled or beaten to death. Mackenzie faces additional charges related to 52 more deaths. The case has led to the arrest of 26 individuals, including Mackenzie and his wife, and the banning of five religious groups accused of causing starvation deaths among their followers.
