Lisbon. Defense of detained residents appeals to "common sense"
Lawyer Ricardo Sá Fernandes, representing protesters from the Lisbon Camp, called for democratic sense from the Public Prosecutor's hierarchy regarding detained individuals. Following hearings for 55 protesters detained on October 20 and 25, he noted uncertainty about whether the cases would go to trial. Some detainees accepted provisional suspensions, while others chose to continue their fight. Sá Fernandes also mentioned plans to file a criminal complaint against the Minister of Internal Administration and the national police director for alleged abuse of power during police actions against peaceful protesters. The Public Prosecutor's Office is considering archiving the cases based on recent court rulings.
