It is now certain that Balázs Bús will spend Christmas Eve in prison

Bús Balázs, former vice president of the National Cultural Fund, will spend Christmas in detention as the Kecskemét Court upheld the extension of his arrest. He is under investigation for embezzlement causing significant financial loss. The prosecution requested the extension due to ongoing concerns about the risk of flight and evidence tampering. Bús, who previously served as the mayor of Óbuda and a member of parliament, was arrested in June for allegedly distributing 17 billion HUF secretly before elections. He claims his detention is unjust and that he is a victim of a political conspiracy, accusing others of attempting to influence the authorities.
