More than 1.7 million fake Pokémon cards intercepted in Rotterdam port

Customs in Rotterdam seized over 1.7 million counterfeit Pokémon cards after a container inspection raised authenticity concerns. A customs officer doubted the cards' legitimacy, and a specialist confirmed they were fakes due to color discrepancies and lack of copyright. Nintendo verified the cards were not genuine, leading to their destruction. The cards were packed in 142,800 packages across 9,300 boxes, stacked to a height of 515 meters. Meanwhile, rare Pokémon cards can be highly valuable, with a retired painter recently becoming a millionaire from his collection. A special card set release in September sparked significant interest, and the most expensive Pokémon card sold for 14 million euros earlier this year.
