MNB scandal: the central bank handed over additional documents to investigators
The Hungarian National Bank has submitted two new applications to the Budapest Police regarding bank guarantees related to the renovation of its headquarters. The new management aims to continue investigating issues from the previous leadership and support the authorities with necessary information. The applications were submitted on November 4, partly in response to media reports. A dispute has arisen over a bank guarantee of 3.5 billion HUF, with Raw Development claiming that only 224 million HUF should have been justified. They suspect fraud due to significant damages. The MNB-Ingatlan Kft. justified the guarantees by citing construction errors, which the contractor disputes, asserting quality work. Additionally, Raw Facility Management filed another complaint, alleging exclusion from a contract bidding process despite offering the best proposal, resulting in a contract that cost 11 billion HUF more.
