Mozambique. At least 19 dead in ten days in Cabo Delgado
ACLED reported that ISIS-linked extremists attacked several locations in Cabo Delgado, Mozambique, resulting in at least 19 deaths between October 21 and 31. The group remains active in nine districts, exploiting military weaknesses despite some state successes in disrupting logistics. Victims were primarily civilians, including cashew buyers and local youth. The attacks, described as targeting Christians, may exacerbate community tensions in a historically Makonde-dominated area. The presence of ISM was known locally, yet security forces failed to respond adequately, leaving communities vulnerable. The ongoing insurgency has caused over 6,600 deaths and displaced around 1.3 million since 2017.
