MTA: The JÉGER is not causing the drought
The Hungarian Academy of Sciences concluded that the cloud seeding system (JÉGER) is not responsible for recent droughts. Researchers found no scientific evidence linking the system to significant changes in rainfall. The Academy recommends stricter regulations on weather modification systems to combat misinformation. Analysis of weather data shows that droughts have historically occurred in the Carpathian Basin, even before JÉGER's implementation in 2018. This summer was the driest since measurements began, affecting much of Europe. The controversy intensified as farmers blamed JÉGER for the drought, leading to a petition signed by over 20,000 people. In response, the Minister of Agriculture suspended the system nationwide, except in four counties, after a survey indicated that 66.1% of farmers supported the suspension. The review aimed to clarify the scientific basis of JÉGER and reduce its operational costs.
