After a prolonged illness, the Hungarian swimmer wins a silver medal at the Youth Olympics
Hungarian swimmer Olivér Pápai won a silver medal in the 200m freestyle at the Dakar Youth Olympics. He qualified for the final with a time of 1:51.20 and improved to 1:48.43 in the final, finishing behind Russia's Bogdan Toropkin. Pápai previously skipped the 400m freestyle, where he was a favorite, due to health concerns. His coach emphasized the risks of competing with potential heart issues. Additionally, an 800m freestyle event was canceled due to high water temperatures. This marks the second silver for Hungary in Dakar, following triathlete Jázmin Kropkó's achievement. Moór Ádám also secured a bronze in individual sprint rowing, bringing Hungary's medal count to three in Senegal.
