Not hundreds, but thousands. The ministry on doctors' million earnings
The Polish Ministry of Health acknowledged that the number of doctors earning millions in public healthcare is significantly higher than previously estimated. Changes in salary reporting will allow better monitoring of doctors' incomes by linking contracts to their PESEL numbers. A new law aims to address the issue of inflated salaries among some doctors, with estimates suggesting that over 14,000 doctors may earn over a million zlotys annually. The law also sets a maximum hourly rate and limits working hours. Additionally, penalties for falsifying documentation have been proposed, although some senators have raised concerns about the severity of these penalties. The final vote on the law is expected soon.
