Female consumption in Hungary is increasing, and next year the budget restructuring will also support retail.

Hungarian retail consumption increased by 4.3% in September 2026 compared to the previous year, with non-food retail growing significantly. Analysts view this growth positively, although food retail saw a slight decline. The retail sector's revenue reached 1752 billion HUF, with a notable portion coming from food and mixed stores. Future consumption growth is expected, aided by budget changes that allocate more resources to lower-income individuals. However, this may lead to increased corporate burdens, potentially hindering investments. Despite this, 4000 billion HUF is earmarked for economic development from various sources, although it may be less effective than previous expenditures by the government.
