New searches for victims of UPA crimes. A witness indicated a possible burial site
A mission is underway to locate undiscovered burial sites of Poles murdered in February 1945, with previous expeditions uncovering remains of at least 42 individuals. New witness accounts have emerged, including one from a then-10-year-old resident of Puźniki, who recalled seeing victims being buried. The search area is believed to be between the church and the cemetery, which has not yet been investigated. The teams have received military approval to use electronic imaging technology to aid in their search, which will continue until November 10. The massacre in Puźniki involved Ukrainian nationalists killing between 50 and 120 Poles, led by Petro Chamczuk. Survivors were relocated to Poland in 1945, and the village was later abandoned and overgrown with forest.
