New PIT threshold and higher CIT. The tax package has been submitted to the parliamentary committee

On Thursday, the Polish Sejm held the first reading of a bill amending personal income tax laws. The proposal largely mirrors a previous version accepted in October, with additional regulations to clarify legal uncertainties. The bill received support from coalition parties, while opposition clubs proposed its rejection. Key changes include raising the first tax threshold from 120,000 to 130,000 PLN and introducing a new 24% rate for incomes between 130,000 and 150,000 PLN. The government claims the reform will reduce the percentage of taxpayers at the highest rate to 7.2% by 2027, benefiting around 3.5 million taxpayers. The bill must be passed in the current session to take effect on January 1, 2027.
