Crackdown on Russian Women in Turkey. Dozens Arrested for 'Violating Morality'
On October 23, Turkish police conducted operations in three nightclubs in Ankara, resulting in the detention of several women, primarily from the Commonwealth of Independent States. The detained women were taken to a deportation center, where they were allowed to contact relatives. Russian consulate representatives have met with them and promised consular assistance. Reports suggest that over 100 women were detained, many of whom were lured to Turkey with job offers as dancers or singers but were forced into roles as promoters. A court hearing is expected soon, after which deportations may occur. This follows a similar operation in April, where 38 women were detained.
