OE2027: Minister says agriculture will have "largest budget ever"
The Minister of Agriculture and Sea announced that the budget for 2027 will be the largest ever, emphasizing the importance of comparing budgets accurately. José Manuel Fernandes stated that the 2026 budget was 1.478 billion euros, while the 2027 budget is projected at around 1.625 billion euros. He noted that even without the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), the budget will increase by 10%. Fernandes highlighted that 825 million euros from the EU budget for farmers will not appear in the upcoming budget. He also mentioned that despite challenges like storms and the Middle East conflict, the ministry is set to exceed its planned budget execution this year, reaching over 1.820 billion euros. The final vote on the 2027 budget is scheduled for November 24.
