Ókovács Szilveszter's deputy was also fired from the Opera
The Hungarian State Opera has terminated the employment of Deputy Director Virág Főző due to irregularities uncovered during audits. Főző, who had been with the Opera since 2002 and became Deputy Director in 2014, was considered a close associate of Director Szilveszter Ókovács. His responsibilities will be temporarily taken over by Balázs Ivacs. Minister Zoltán Tarr dismissed Ókovács following the organization's audit, which revealed unauthorized benefits he received, including payments for social media posts. Ókovács, who is suing for his dismissal, claims he was never questioned during the audit process. The investigation also highlighted issues such as strikes and layoffs during Ókovács's leadership.
