The Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County Prosecutor's Office has charged a man for violently attacking his ex-wife and attempting to set her house on fire in Ajak. The elderly man, who lived with his ex-wife and had alcohol-related aggression, assaulted her on March 8. He kicked and struck her repeatedly with a stick, preventing her from getting up. After she managed to escape through a window, he pursued her with a baton and hammer, continuing the assault in the street. Believing she was dead, he stopped and returned home, but was arrested by police responding to a report. The prosecutor's office is seeking a prison sentence for attempted murder with particular cruelty.
