Orlen has money for taxes, but warns of investment cuts

Orlen reported a net profit of over 21.4 billion PLN for the first three quarters of the year, significantly higher than the previous year. In Q3 alone, the profit reached 5.6 billion PLN. The company is prepared to meet its legal obligations under the windfall tax, estimated at around 2.4 billion PLN. However, investment expenditures may fall short of the planned 36 billion PLN, with current spending at 22.5 billion PLN. Discussions are ongoing regarding a potential windfall tax in Lithuania, which could impact investments in the Możejki refinery. New legislation proposes a 60% tax on excess profits from fuel sales, effective from March 2026 to March 2027. Orlen operates refineries in Poland, the Czech Republic, and Lithuania, and is expanding its energy and petrochemical sectors.
