Seventeen cases of dangerous objects found in candies have been reported in Austria, prompting Interior Minister Gerhard Karner to condemn the actions as despicable. The police are investigating whether these incidents are connected and urge parents to seek medical help if children swallow foreign objects. Similar incidents have occurred in Poland, where four children found sharp objects in their candies, and one was hospitalized. Germany has also reported several similar cases.
