Paralysis of the National Media Council after the arrest of the King
The National Media Council, established in 2016, is responsible for appointing and dismissing management boards of Polish media entities. Currently, its operations are hindered due to the arrest of its chairman, Wojciech Król, which prevents the council from convening. The law does not specify procedures for such situations, leading to a paralysis in decision-making. Attempts to persuade Król to resign were unsuccessful, and while remote meetings are possible, participation depends on court approval. Król's salary has been frozen following criminal charges against him.
