PCP accuses the right of fearing scrutiny over police actions

The PCP criticized right-wing parties for blocking a proposed urgent debate on police actions during housing protests. The debate required consensus among all parliamentary parties, but the CDS opposed it. While left-wing parties and PAN supported scheduling the debate, PSD, Chega, and IL remained silent. PCP leader Paula Santos accused these parties of avoiding scrutiny and emphasized the political significance of their inaction. She highlighted a court ruling affirming the legitimacy of protests and condemned the government's forceful intervention. Santos questioned the motives of the opposing parties and suggested that the budget discussion schedule could be adjusted to accommodate the debate.
