Five days off without vacation. The effect of Tusk's decision

On December 26, 2026, Christmas will fall on a Saturday, leading to an eight-hour reduction in working hours. Civil service employees will receive an additional day off on Monday, December 28, as per a decision by Prime Minister Donald Tusk. This creates a five-day holiday period from December 24 to December 28. Private sector employers can determine the day off for their employees, which may also be December 28 or another date. If an employee is on sick leave during the designated day off, they do not gain the right to take another day off later. However, if the additional day off coincides with a planned vacation, it will not count against the employee's vacation days.
