Cape Verdean PJ detains police officers and hospital director on drug trafficking suspicions
Cabo Verde's Judicial Police arrested 20 individuals, including police officers and the director of the main hospital, on drug trafficking suspicions. The arrests include four national police agents and five prison guards. They will be presented in court for initial hearings. The hospital director, Odair Carvalho, was appointed two months ago. These arrests follow Operation Shark, which previously led to 12 arrests linked to an international drug trafficking network. The new director of the PJ, Jacqueline Semedo, has emphasized a strong commitment to combating drug trafficking and organized crime.
