Platforms under the microscope of UKE. New rights for internet users

The amendment to the Electronic Services Act, signed by the president, aims to implement the Digital Services Act (DSA) in Poland. The President of the Office of Electronic Communications (UKE) is now the national coordinator overseeing the digital market. This role includes handling complaints from citizens regarding online platforms covered by the DSA. The new regulations allow UKE to address issues related to transparency and content moderation on various platforms. Oversight is shared among UKE, the National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT), and the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK), each responsible for different aspects of digital services. The DSA, effective in the EU from February 2024, aims to create a safer online environment while protecting freedom of speech.
