It was a terrible year for the Felcsút capitalists
In 2025, the number of individuals with capital income in Hungary rose to 366,000, representing only 3.9% of the population. The GKI Economic Research analysis highlights that the net capital income totaled 3,048 billion HUF, marking a 7% increase from the previous year. The distribution of capital income reveals significant disparities, particularly between Budapest and rural areas. On average, capital income per individual in Budapest was 12 million HUF, compared to 6.3 million HUF in villages. The highest capital income per resident was recorded in Felcsút, although it dropped significantly from the previous year. Notably, there are 148 municipalities with no capital income at all, with Nógrád having the lowest per capita figure.
