Maritime Police confiscates 100 thousand liters linked to drugs
In the first nine months of this year, the Maritime Police seized approximately 100,000 liters of fuel in efforts against drug trafficking, marking a 45% increase compared to all of 2025. The National Maritime Authority highlighted that Lisbon, Setúbal, and Faro are key operational areas due to identified logistical support structures for maritime drug trafficking. Seizing fuel is crucial as it disrupts the logistical capabilities of criminal organizations, hindering their operations. The GNR plans to present further data on fuel seizures soon. The Ministry of Justice noted a solution for repurposing seized fuels, with the National Entity for the Energy Sector capable of storage, ensuring legal and technical conditions are met.
