Polish government is ‘open’ to EU mediation on court crisis, justice minister says
Poland's Justice Minister Waldemar Żurek expressed openness to EU mediation regarding the Constitutional Tribunal dispute, although no formal talks have been initiated. The conflict arose after President Karol Nawrocki rejected judges elected by parliament, leading to protests from the opposition. Prime Minister Donald Tusk aims to stabilize the situation and will discuss it with Nawrocki. Żurek criticized the politicization of the court by the previous PiS government and mentioned ongoing legal issues facing PiS-aligned officials, including embezzlement charges against Bogdan Święczkowski, who is also implicated in a spyware case.
