Police zone HEKLA destroys more than 20 fatbikes and fast scooters: "Avoiding them getting back on the road"

Politiezone HEKLA has destroyed over 20 fatbikes and e-scooters that did not meet legal requirements. Many of these vehicles could exceed the speed limit of 25 km/h, with one reaching 100 km/h. The police emphasize the need for a legislative framework to ensure traffic safety, particularly as 90% of the riders are young people. They urge parents to be aware of the vehicles their children use, as modified bikes pose risks to both riders and other road users. HEKLA calls for clear regulations regarding minimum age, helmet requirements, and technical standards for these vehicles, highlighting the increasing number of accidents involving vulnerable road users.
