For the female sailors of the Route du Rhum, Alexia Barrier and Anne-Claire Le Berre, "it remains painful to find a place" as women in offshore racing

On November 1, 11 women participated in the Route du Rhum race from Saint-Malo, out of 115 skippers. Alexia Barrier made history as the first female competitor in the Ultim category, while Anne-Claire Le Berre is the first woman in the Ocean Fifty category in 16 years. They discussed their experiences in the male-dominated world of offshore sailing and their sporting goals. Barrier aims to complete the race in seven to eight days, drawing on the experience of previous sailors of her older boat.
