PSL wants a constitutional change. Politicians comment on the plan for the Constitutional Tribunal
On Thursday, Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz announced a proposal to amend the Polish Constitution to restore the credibility of the Constitutional Tribunal. The plan includes terminating the mandates of current judges and designating them as retired judges. Critics, including KO MP Maciej Tomczykiewicz, argue the proposal lacks clarity on the Tribunal's new operational model. Left MP Tomasz Trela expressed opposition, emphasizing the Tribunal's recent functioning and the legitimacy of current judges. Other politicians, like Łukasz Osmalak from Poland 2050, called for a balanced approach to resolve ongoing disputes. PiS representative Henryk Kowalczyk suggested that any reset requires addressing recent events in the Tribunal.
