Democratic Republic of the Congo. Two new vaccines against the Bundibugyo virus will be included in a clinical trial
Two new vaccines targeting the Bundibugyo virus will be included in a clinical trial in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where an Ebola outbreak has claimed 5,100 lives. The World Health Organization announced this following recommendations from independent experts for vaccines developed by Oxford University and Moderna. This marks the first evaluation of vaccines specifically designed for Bundibugyo during an Ebola outbreak. The Tumaini trial aims to test multiple vaccine candidates using a ring vaccination approach. The ongoing Ebola epidemic in the DRC is the deadliest in the country's history, with nearly 10,500 reported cases.
