Rural Resistance supports energy exploration movements

Brava, a rural resistance network, supported 35 local movements in its first year, opposing solar mega-projects and lithium mines across Portugal. The organization provides direct funding, legal support, and communication tools to rural communities facing destructive projects. They reported record participation against initiatives like the Sophia solar plant and Barroso lithium mine. In its inaugural year, Brava raised €3,700 and allocated €3,000 to five projects focused on river defense and legal costs. The network also launched the Rural Resistance Manual and a podcast to amplify community voices. Plans for 2027 include organizing events and further funding rounds.
