Residual waste will soon be collected every 3 weeks: Ecowerf tests new scheme in Bertem, Huldenberg and Tielt-Winge
Starting next year, residual waste in Bertem, Huldenberg, and Tielt-Winge will be collected every three weeks instead of every two weeks. This change by EcoWerf aims to encourage residents to manage waste more responsibly and reduce the amount of residual waste. A sorting analysis revealed that only 39% of residual waste is correctly sorted, with a significant portion consisting of recyclable materials. EcoWerf emphasizes the importance of proper sorting, noting that a large percentage of organic waste and textiles are still found in residual waste containers. Residents will receive support and information on sorting, and those with excess waste can dispose of it at alternative locations. The pilot project will run for one year before evaluation.
