The revolution in loans has already begun. The bank has released data.
In Poland, the WIBOR rate is being replaced by POLSTR for financial instruments like housing loans. Starting January 2027, banks will cease issuing new loans based on WIBOR, which will still be available until December 2036 for existing contracts. PKO BP has already introduced POLSTR for mortgage loans, achieving over 400 million PLN in sales since its launch. The bank encourages clients to opt for fixed interest rates to mitigate uncertainty. Unlike WIBOR, which includes model rates, POLSTR relies solely on actual overnight transactions in the interbank market. PKO BP, the largest universal bank in Poland, reported a net profit of 8.2 billion PLN for the first three quarters of 2026, a 3.2% increase year-on-year.
