"Rzeczpospolita" has been investigating pedophilia in the Church for years. Many wrongs still await clarification.

Polish bishops took over three years to establish a commission to investigate sexual abuse of minors by clergy, following discussions that began in 2019. The commission was officially announced in spring 2023, with Prof. Piotr Franaszek appointed as its head. Journalists from "Rzeczpospolita" have been investigating clergy abuse since 2021, uncovering over 135 cases from the PRL era, revealing systemic issues and complicity from church authorities. Their findings prompted some bishops to review church archives and reach out to victims. The commission is expected to start functioning by spring 2027, with initial results anticipated by 2029.
