Sikorski on the elections in the USA: We need to think beyond the end of our own noses
According to preliminary results from the midterm elections, the Republican Party lost its majority in both chambers of Congress to the Democrats, who gained at least seven Senate seats previously held by Republicans. Democratic candidates also won in Texas, a traditionally Republican stronghold. Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski commented on the election results, noting that while polls indicated a significant Democratic victory, they carry a large margin of error. He emphasized that Poland has maintained relations with the Democratic Party and aims to be a good ally to the United States regardless of the ruling party. Sikorski also mentioned that the change in Congress will lead to new leadership in foreign affairs committees.
