Spanish transport minister resigns after second train disaster in a year

Puente announced his resignation in the Spanish parliament following two serious train accidents within a year. He initially decided to step down shortly after last week's crash but delayed to clarify the incident and prevent future accidents. The recent accident was caused by human error, leading to a collision between a high-speed train and a stationary train. There are still forty injured in the hospital. This was the second deadly train accident in Spain this year, following a January incident that killed 46 people. The pressure on Puente increased, prompting the Spanish railway union to announce strikes for better safety measures. He also introduced new safety protocols and improved working conditions for traffic management staff.
