Szijjártó and others rented a private jet for 143.5 million forints for a 2021 Japan-Azerbaijan tour
After two years of litigation, Átlátszó revealed that during his tenure, Péter Szijjártó rented a private jet for 143.5 million HUF for a trip including Azerbaijan and several Japanese cities. The total known costs of the trip, including accommodation, approached 150 million HUF. Szijjártó's meetings took place in Osaka, Kyoto, and Tokyo, with a stop in Baku. Despite winning multiple court rulings, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not disclose the rental costs until 27 months after the initial request. Additionally, Szijjártó returned from Baku on a military jet while representatives of Hungarian companies flew back on the private jet. Accommodation costs were also significant, with a single night in Tokyo costing 5.4 million HUF for ten people. The total does not include military aircraft expenses. Previous reports highlighted Szijjártó's extensive travels, with some trips costing up to 262 million HUF.
