Taiwan denounces the presence of more than a hundred Chinese military ships in the western Pacific

Taiwan has reported over a hundred Chinese military vessels in the western Pacific, coinciding with increased Chinese military flights near the island. Joseph Wu, Taiwan's National Security Council Secretary-General, shared a map showing the concentration of Chinese ships, particularly in waters east of Taiwan and the South China Sea. The Chinese Navy's Liaoning aircraft carrier is part of this deployment, conducting military exercises aimed at enhancing combat readiness. Taiwan's defense ministry noted a significant rise in Chinese military aircraft activity, with 49 detected in one day, marking the highest daily count for 2026. Taiwan maintains vigilance against perceived threats from China, which views the island as part of its territory.
